Golden Rooster: an all-ways slot where gold symbols pay up to ten times more

Where a normal Play8oy slot has a LINES box, Golden Rooster has one that says GOLD SYMBOL, set to 48 in these screenshots. With PLAY at 1, TOTAL PLAY is also 48. It's the first clue that this game is built differently.

The second clue is the strip at the top: an ACTIVE SYMBOLS label followed by four small icons, a red rooster, a green jade carving, a silver ingot and a string of firecrackers. Below it, the GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI counters sit inside the reel frame instead of in the top bar, with a gold treasure bowl in the middle. The reels are dark blue, framed by red Chinese cloud patterns, and both sides say ALL WAYS. Symbols include the rooster, gold coins with Chinese characters, firecrackers with a 福 tag, and card ranks from 9 to A.

This spin paid 20. Gold coins land on reels one, two and three, and a purple 福 tile sits above the coin on reel three. With all-ways pay you don't need them on one row.

Gold and plain symbols

This is where the name makes sense. Four symbols come in two versions. The golden rooster pays 500 for five, 100 for four and 50 for three; the plain red rooster pays 50, 10 and 5. The gold dragon medallion pays 400 against 50 for the green jade. The gold ingot pays 250 against 50 for the silver one, and gold firecrackers 150 against 50 for red. The coin pays 100, and all six card ranks pay 50, 10 and 5.

Those four plain symbols are exactly the ones in the Active Symbols strip. My guess is that the GOLD SYMBOL bet decides which of them can turn gold, but I haven't seen a screen that says so.

The scatter is a round medallion. Five give 20 free games and four give 15; the row for three is cut off. The text beside it mentions "3 or more consecutive" medallions "or" the 福 tile from the left, which suggests the 福 tile counts toward the trigger. The old page's claims about a wild only on reels 2 to 4 and a x5 multiplier in free games aren't on these screens.
