Gladiator Jackpot: an emperor, three helmets and a RM4.4 million counter

The number in the top right corner of Gladiator Jackpot never sat still: RM4,411,960.00 in the first shot, RM4,414,939.83 a few spins later. It's the one progressive counter on this game, and three helmets are what open the way to it.

The reels sit in a dark Colosseum frame with gold GLADIATOR JACKPOT lettering on top and line numbers 1 to 25 running down both edges. The symbols are portrait photos styled on the film: a young emperor in a laurel wreath, a noblewoman in gold, a white-haired senator, an older man in a dark turban and a soldier in a chainmail helmet. The low end is 9, 10, J, Q, K and A in big gold letters.

In one of the captures, line 3 pays RM0.70 for two of the noblewoman (7 times the RM0.10 line bet, which is what the paytable lists), and the spin totals RM2.90.

Helmets and the bonus

When the game is idle the banner explains itself: three helmets start the Gladiator Jackpot Bonus. On this spin line 1 paid RM4, four Qs with two glowing gladiator tiles standing in, which fits the 40x for four Qs on the paytable.

From page 1 of 3, as multiples of the line bet:

• Helmet: appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 only, substitutes for everything except the scatter, and three of them start the Gladiator Jackpot Bonus.
• Coliseum scatter: 100, 20, 4 and 1 for five, four, three and two, and it's also the Coliseum Bonus symbol.
• Emperor 5000/500/75/8, noblewoman 1000/250/50/7, senator 350/75/25, soldier and turbaned man 250/60/20.
• A and K 200/50/15, Q and J 120/40/10, 9 and 10 75/20/8.

The old page described the bonus as nine helmets revealed one by one in bronze, silver and gold, with nine golds winning the jackpot, plus a stone-picking Coliseum round. That may be right, but none of the screenshots show either round.
