King Derby, an arcade horse race with pair odds

Not a slot at all. King Derby is an old-style arcade horse race where you bet on which two horses finish first and second.

If you grew up near a kedai with an old arcade cabinet in the back, King Derby will look familiar. Chunky pixel horses, a green track with little red bushes, and a black odds board that looks like it came straight off a 1980s machine.

There are no reels. Before each race you get the NEW ODDS board. Horse numbers 1 to 5 run down the left, 2 to 6 across the top, and every cell is a pair. In my screenshot 1 with 6 was 1000, 1 with 3 was 500, and 1 with 2 only 3. Low number, likely pair. Big number, long shot. Under each figure a red 0 shows how much you've placed there.

On the right are four red and green dots for the stake: 0, 1, 10 and 50 coins. Below the grid there's a short line of form notes (STARTER 4, FINISHER 6, SPRINTER 3), a FAST MODE switch, and a strip reading JACKPOT X3 X4 X5 FREE HORSE. I couldn't find what that last line means from the screens alone. LAST 5R RESULTS sits top right.

Then the race runs by itself. Six horses, numbered saddle cloths, and at the end the winning pair flashes across the screen in big red digits. Mine was 4-6.

It's a quick game, maybe a minute a race, which is exactly why it eats coins if you don't watch it. Only for 18+. Online betting is restricted in Malaysia, and a fixed limit helps (responsible gaming).

The board says JACKPOT X3 X4 X5 FREE HORSE, but no screenshot explains the rule, so check the in-game help before counting on it.
